**About your future team**:
Our Data, Analytics and Systems Assurance (DASA) team sits within Corporate Services and supports the broader VAGO with sophisticated analytics and IT audit needs across their audits. We have specialists across data engineering, software development, data visualisations and IT audits.

The Systems Assurance arm of the DASA team assists our financial statement auditors with planning and executing on elements of their audit where skills in IT, security, systems and emerging technologies are needed. Across VAGO, our systems assurance team actively engages and assists in 70 audits each year.

Systems Assurance staff are also involved in transformational projects focused on automating and embedding General IT Controls and Automated Information Processing Controls audit testing into our in-house built analytics platform called Empower.

**About the opportunity**:
Significant changes in the adoption of new technologies by our audit clients has created a new opportunity for an experienced learning and development partner will strong skills across IT audits supporting audits of financial reports to join our team.

In this role, you will:
1. Collaborate with stakeholders from across VAGO to identify/execute on opportunities that will enable our auditors to better:

- Integrate and embrace technology in the conduct of our audits.
- Improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our audits by better leveraging our audit clients’ use of technology.

2. Lead the development and implementation of training programs and initiatives aimed at upskilling our financial statement auditors to:

- Undertake the IT audit work traditionally performed by IT audit specialists on low and some moderate risk audits.
- Embrace data, tools and innovative technologies in executing on more efficient and effective audits.

3. Monitor the effectiveness of training initiatives you are project managing, and ‘fine tune’ our deliverables as needed.

4. Review IT audit work performed by financial statement auditors, and provide feedback and coaching as needed.

5. Play a role in exciting transformational projects such as enhancing our existing data analytics platform to support our IT audit needs, and identifying ‘best-of-breed’ tools that aide the work of our auditors.

**About you**:
Applicants for this role must:

- Have at least four years’ experience in undertaking IT audits supporting audits of financial reports at a professional services firm or another Audit Office across the Australasian Council of Auditors-General (ACAG) network.
- Be capable of working collaboratively with stakeholders to develop training programs and initiatives designed to uplift IT audit skills and general awareness of technology across our financial statement auditors.
- Have completed or are studying to complete the education requirements for admission as a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) with ISACA.
- Have strong skills and experience in auditing General IT controls, Information processing controls, and can provide other specialist support to financial statement auditors.
- Have a strong understanding of how data impact the design and operating effectiveness of controls.
- Have a sound understanding of how emerging technologies and industry wide trends affect the work of IT auditors supporting audits of financial reports.
- Have a passion for innovation and improving the way we do things.
- Have strong communication skills and the ability to negotiate outcomes with stakeholders.
- Have a proven ability to make sensitive and complex decisions.

This role would ideally suit an ex-financial statement auditor who has made the move into an IT audit specialist role or an IT auditor with substantial experience in leading and performing IT audits in support of audits of financial reports.

Tertiary qualifications in accounting and IT alongside membership of professional bodies such as CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand would also be desirable but are not mandatory
