You will lead a highly skilled and enthusiastic team who are dedicated to delivering the future of data and analytics. The team services the Department by offering data and analytics leadership, enablement, and capability uplift. You will work across all areas of the department, with both internal and external stakeholders, to create value in alignment with the Department of Transport and Main Roads' Data and Analytics and Open Data Strategies.

**You can look forward to being responsible for**:

- Promoting methodologies, tools and provide advocacy and direction for best practice data management aligned to the Department's Data and Analytics Strategy and ensuring alignment with the Queensland Government's overall direction and agenda, including the Department's Open Data initiative.
- Leading and managing a multi-skilled team of professionals to meet business objectives including all aspects of staff performance management.
- Maintaining a high level of knowledge of the department's and government's current and planned information management strategies to facilitate informed consideration of potential solution opportunities.
- Identifying and developing business improvement opportunities with business areas across the department in alignment with organisational, corporate and enterprise strategic outcomes.
- Leading the development and implementation of organisational change as a requirement to enable the growth and maturity of data and analytics capability within the department.
- Developing and maintaining constructive relationships within and between the Information Technology Branch and departmental business areas, and with other agencies and industry partners to enable the delivery of outcomes.

**The perfect person for this role will come with**:

- Demonstrated experience in:

- Enterprise level data and analytics initiatives (or similar).
- Senior engagement and organisational change management activities.
- A genuine passion and experience in agile project delivery frameworks and ways of working.
- Experience in successfully leading a small team with energy and enthusiasm, and willing to stay hands on in the role; whilst providing your teams' capability uplift and being a positive role model.

- Develop organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for [data and analytics] methods and tools. - Set direction and lead in the introduction and use of [data and analytics] techniques, methodologies and tools, to meet business requirements.
- Lead the development of organisational capabilities for [data and analytics] methods and tools to ensure consistent adoption and adherence to policies and standards.
- Determine the requirements for appropriate governance reflecting the organisation's values, ethics and wider governance frameworks.
- Lead reviews of governance practices with appropriate and sufficient independence from management activity.
