Over the past 40 years, Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies at Deakin has developed an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research. The continuing quality of the research underpins the taught program and the specialist teaching staff reflect the interdisciplinary nature of cultural heritage practice.
The Lecturer will be required to teach in postgraduate programs and undertake research and publish in the area of Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies. The appointee will promote the School and maintain links and partnerships with relevant academic, industry and professional communities. The appointee will make an independent contribution to the research achievements and teaching programs of the School.

**Your key responsibilities will include, and not limited to**:
- Contribute to the achievement of Deakin’s strategic goals in research, teaching, engagement and innovation
- Publish high quality research in journals of high repute and contribute to Deakin’s research performance in research codes for cultural heritage and curatorial studies
- Contribute to the research achievement of the School
- Undertake professional and administrative roles and responsibilities that enhance the discipline and Deakin
- Interact regularly and collegially with other staff in the School and the Faculty, peers in other universities, both nationally and internationally, and with community, professional and industry organisations
- Enhance the quality of teaching and learning activities, including identifying and responding to opportunities to advance the discipline, particularly in the area of heritage place practices
- Develop relationships with research, community, industry and government for enhanced teaching and research outcomes
- Contribute to communications, seminars, events and activities as a member of the Cultural Heritage & Museum Studies team, including taking leadership roles in some instances
**Key selection criteria for this role**:
- PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
- excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs, including innovative curriculum design
- emerging reputation in research and scholarship through publications and/or exhibitions and/or success in obtaining external research funding
- ability to make a contribution to community engagement for research and teaching
- capacity to contribute to leadership of teaching, research and/or administration
- excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues
- knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and contemporary issues
- previous experience in the cultural heritage and/or museum sector is an advantage
- teaching and research interests in World Heritage and/ or Intangible Cultural Heritage are highly desirable
