**The department**

Our Emergency Management and Public Safety Department aim to build a safer and more resilient community. The key actions to achieve these aims includes partnering with stakeholders to develop arrangements to prevent, prepare, respond and recover from emergencies and disasters.

Other core functions include the enhancement of public safety through reducing the risk of fire on council land, proactive community engagement and the management of close circuit television systems to support business operations, crime prevention and investigation. The Department comprises four teams to manage these initiatives, these being; Disaster Management, Disaster Resilience and Recovery, Fire Management and Public Safety.

**About our opportunity**

We are seeking a friendly, reliable and motivated University Student to join our Fire Management team

Whilst working alongside experts in the field, some of the tasks and duties you will be involved in is:

- Supporting the team in developing planned burn plans
- Assisting with bushfire response and operation administration
- Engaging and communication with a range of stakeholders
- Undertaking environmental assessments (via desktop and out in the field)
- Contributing into the development and delivery of fire management projects

Your **enthusiasm and drive** will be paired with **exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills** as we strive to provide a great experience for all of our stakeholders we interact with.

You will be currently enrolled in relevant university studies and be **available to work a minimum of 3 days per week** (Monday to Friday).

Relevant studies will ideally have an **Environmental Science or other relevant fields** that align with the role focus.
