The BUSY School is a not-for-profit organisation that has been a community partner for over 45 years, providing employment services, vocational education and training, apprenticeships, mentoring, NDIS, disability employment support, and allied health services.
We have 7 campuses across Cairns, Brisbane, and Gold Coast/Coolangatta, providing an alternative program for Year 11 and 12 students who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education.

Job DescriptionWe are seeking qualified teachers to join our relief teaching pool at various campuses. As a relief teacher, you will have the opportunity to work with a supportive and safe learning environment, providing students with vocational education and training (VET), work experience and opportunities for school-based apprenticeships and traineeships.
Our team focuses on re-engaging students to learn, remain eligible for a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and gain employment or further training outcomes upon graduation from Year 12.
Requirements- Hold a Current QCT Registration (or the ability to obtain one)
- Desirable experience and characteristics:
- Experience working with QCAA and QCE requirements, accountabilities and processes is preferable
- Motivated and genuine passion to work with disengaged youth and support students as part of a holistic school team
- Experience and/or high level of understanding of trauma-informed and restorative practices is desirable
- You have experience in developing and implementing a range of strategies to support diverse needs of students through differentiation, support and behaviour management strategies.
- Competitive, casual rate + 12.5% superannuation
- Impacting and changing the lives of youth to reengage in learning, remain eligible for a QCE and gain employment and further training outcomes
- Small classes of max. 16 students
- Collegial campus-based team of a Campus Principal, teachers, learning support, teacher aides, education youth workers, employment pathways, work readiness and administration officers, and additional student support from external providers, as required
- Access to employee assistance program (EAP)
