THE POSITION

Our client who is based to the west of Brisbane are seeking multiple experienced General Medicine Principle House Officers for their Medical Department.

The General Medicine Principle House Officers are responsible for providing high level of medical care to patients in the Department of Medicine under the supervision and guidance of consultant medical staff.

You will be supervising and advising junior medical staff and students attached the Department of Medicine, all whilst providing clinical and administrative support for medical services undertaken in clinical units of the hospital.

IMG’s who are eligible for the Standard Pathway (AMC part 1), or Competent Authority Pathway are welcome to apply.

THE HOSPITAL:
This hospital has a current bed capacity of approximately 230+ beds, they have redeveloped the hospital into a digitally equipped facility with leading edge technology to assist staff to provide the highest level of care to their patients.

The hospital provides specialist services in obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics, orthopaedics, psychiatry, urology, oncology, and cardiac and many other specialty areas including a newly implemented ear nose and throat and mental health service.

ESSENTIAL:

- Hold and Australian primary medical degree or hold general registration with AHPRA via the competent authority pathway.
- Current experience relevant to the position in General Medicine
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to work a 24/7 rotating roster including weekends, nights, and public holidays.
- Evidence of involvement in continuing professional development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide medical care under the supervision and direction of senior medical staff.
- Document relevant clinical information and in-patient charts accurately, concisely, and legibly.
- Ensure discharge summaries and other correspondence are completed with minimum delay and that all such correspondence is complete prior to leaving the unit.
- Conduct interviews, examinations and the identification of clinical problems including day-to-day review of patients.
- Arrange investigations, surgical treatment, medical treatment, and discharge as directed by the assigned consultant.
- Provide support for junior and senior medical staff as required.
- Assist with case presentations at teaching meetings where necessary.
- Participate in clinical meetings undertaken within the appropriate clinical unit.
- Participate in continual professional development and medical education.
- Work closely with staff specialists to jointly gain your requirements for ACEM.
