The NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) supports people with disability to participate in and contribute to improving social and economic life, as well as provide certainty that people with disability will receive the care and support, they need over their lifetime. The NDIS provides multiple ways to assist people with disability to exercise choice, including taking reasonable risks in the pursuit of their goals and the planning and delivery of their supports. One of the ways this is done is through Local Area Coordination (LAC). For more information, please visit

Your Opportunity

The Early Childhood Coordinator (ECC) works with children aged 0-9 (and their families & carers) to help them achieve the best possible outcomes throughout their lives. Early Childhood Coordinators are the first point of contact for parents who are concerned their child may have developmental concern, delay or disability.

Based in Rosny Park, Hobart, the ECC coordinator will empower children and their families to build capacity, exercise choice and engage with the services available. You will work directly with families, both in-home and in community settings, to assess and develop suitable goals and supports for children. We promote wellbeing, development, and community engagement through a family-centred approach.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Assist children, their families & carers with information to understand what the NDIS is and how it applies to them
- Provide advice on community services and supports that are available; facilitate referrals and introductions
- Build capacity of children, families, and carers to identify their goals, strengths and needs, and plan for their future
- Facilitate informal and formal assessments for children 0-9 years
- Collect and record accurate information to support NDIA decision making and development of the NDIS plan
- On-going person-centred approach because of an individualised profile prior to the referral to services
- Assist participants who are not eligible for ECC services with mainstream linkages and referral.
- Empower children with developmental delay or disability, their families, and carers to build and pursue their goals, exercise choice and control and engage with the Scheme
