The Head of Platforms will set the tone and direction of operations and platform engineering.By platform, we mean cloud, integration, data & analytics and cyber security.

The Head of Platform will be accountable for the following:

- Create a platform-oriented operating model to drive transformation and fulfil the potential of people and functions
- Spearhead a platform engineering culture, serving as an ambassador of its benefits to stakeholders
- Compose a plan geared to aligning tech with business success and organising resources to support it
- Partner with the business to prioritise demand and use the platform to realise business outcomes
- Serve as an advisor to shape tech strategy and align the platform team to it using industry best-practice
- As part of the tech portfolio, devise a release & product strategy and prioritise accordingly
- Leverage automation, tools and code using DevOps frameworks
- Create PaaS for the consumption of internal teams
- Enable developers and product engineers by implementing tools for observability, testing and CI/CD
- Partner with PaaS users to prioritise capabilities backlog
- Assure platform resilience, business continuity, availability, scalability and reliability
- Manage lifecycle & enhancement of platforms
- Champion platform GRC and the creation of patterns to ensure adherence to industry best practices, particularly relating to cyber and regulatory compliance
- Act as an internal consultancy for internal customers lacking the necessary data, analytics and integration capability
- Build an internal PaaS service for internal customers with full finops capability enabling both chargeback and showback for consumers

Some of the following skills and experience are considered highly desirable:

- Senior experience as a tech leader of cross-disciplinary engineering and ops teams
- Senior experience designing, building and managing enterprise platforms
- Senior experience in designing and embedding operational models focusing on platform and DevOps engineering, and agile product delivery
- Cloud based tech implementation experience using modern frameworks and tooling. E.g. IaC, CI/CD, observability, testing and so forth
- Senior experience in data and analytics, integration and cybersecurity and evangelising patterns and best practice
- Senior experience in building and delivering financially viable platform services end to end, from discovery through to adoption and support
- Senior experience ITIL service management to support platform services
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing and change management skills
- Thought leadership in delivering powerful, business aligned outcomes
- Pragmatism and prioritisation and the ability to balance technical debt with long term value
- The ability to implement performance management frameworks and KPI's to measure and showcase the value of a platform engineering approach
- Roadmapping a backlog of initiatives and attracting and retaining a team to execute on it
- Risk management and continuous improvement mindset
