**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**:
The Governance team sits within the Governance and Risk Directorate and are focused on delivering effective education across the organisation with regard to procurement and governance processes and partnering with various units to achieve the best outcomes for the organisation.
The team are responsible for the delivery of Access to Information (GIPA) services, planning and executing civic events, policy and delegation management, providing administrative support to Council and various committees, providing governance advice, ensuring that Council procurement activities are in accordance with legislation and guidelines, delivering robust tender processes and ensuring all contracts are managed effectively.
The Access to Information Officer is responsible for the provision of timely and accurate information held by Council in hard copy and in electronic forms to members of the public as directed, in accordance with the open access provisions of the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009. This position is required to be multi-skilled and it is envisaged that the incumbent may be required to undertake other duties within the Governance unit as required.
The successful applicant will require:
- Qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in the provision of access to information services to the public in both electronic and hard-copy forms, including the appropriate redaction of personal information where required
- Solid knowledge of various acts that relate to the management and provision of information in local government including Privacy and Personal Information Protect Act 1998, Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009, Copyright Act 1968 and Environmental Planning and Assessment Act NSW 1979
- Highly developed skills in customer liaison and ability to meet deadlines
- Highly experienced in researching of hard-copy and electronic information
- Experience in using corporate systems, such as Customer Request Management Systems and Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS) and Microsoft Office or similar
- Working with Children Check.

**Position information**: This is a permanent, full-time position, working a 70 hour fortnight, with access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement.
This role is predominantly located at Council's Merrylands office, with occasional travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations.
**Salary information**: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 9 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,410.79 to $1,622.40 per week, plus 11% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
