**The position**

Melba is growing, and we have an exciting new opportunity for an Disability Support Worker to join an enthusiastic team based in Frankston. You’ll be a guest in someone’s home and no two days will be the same. You’ll help people figure out what they love (their goals) and work towards that. It’s not about doing things for people; it’s about providing just enough support at just the right time to help them do things. It’s their fabulous life afterall.

**What you’ll do**
- Help with all aspects of daily living from getting up in the morning to going to bed at night
- You’ll promote personal choice and control for the person, empowering them along the way
- Administer medication
- Helping people maintain their dignity while you assist with personal hygiene, showers, etc
- Assist with household duties like cleaning, cooking, and washing
- Aid people to get to their chosen activities like social events, work, and appointments
- Implementing support plans based on supported persons needs, preferences and interests

**You’ll have**
- A passion for helping and working with people from all walks of life along with a genuine commitment to the promotion of self-advocacy, human rights, and person-centred practices.
- Ability to form and maintain relationships with people with disabilities, families, friends, staff, and any others who are involved in the individuals' lives.
- Desire for meaningful work and comfortable providing people with daily living support
- Willingness to learn new skills, undertake ongoing training and be part of a team
- An understanding of both physical and intellectual disabilities and other complex presentations.
- You are empathetic, calm, patient and compassionate by nature
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with others.
- You have a demonstrated ability to be adaptable and capable of dealing with challenging and unexpected situations.

**You will also bring with you**:

- NDIS Worker screening Check
- Working with Children Check
- Current Australian Driver’s License - minimum green P level required
- Evidence of COVID 19 vaccination status, including booster
- Current First Aid Certificate with CPR
- Availability to work a permanent roster 114hrs per four week roster and sleepover shifts.
