Carpentry Apprenticeship

**What can you gain from completing an apprenticeship through Work & Training?**
- You would be employed by Work & Training - the largest employer of Apprentices and Trainees in Tasmania, and hosted for the duration of your apprenticeship.
- You would be part of a committed team and under guidance of the site supervisor.
- Theory training is conducted at TasTAFE.
- Your Work & Training Business Consultant provides mentoring and employment support.
- At the completion of your apprenticeship you would receive a nationally recognised **Certificate III in Carpentry (CPC30220)**

**Learn how to**:

- Assist in Commercial construction of large scale developments.
- Undertake formwork and suspended slabs.
- Safely demolish existing structures, renovate and extend current structures.
- Work safely on busy building sites, alongside of other trade persons.
- Utilise power tools safely and in accordance to WHS policies and procedures.

**Desired attributes**:

- VET Construction qualification.
- Previous work experience.

**Essential attributes**:

- Hold a current drivers licence and a reliable vehicle.
- Have a White Card
- Have the ability to pass a pre-employment medical that includes drug and alcohol testing.
- Have a current Working with Vulnerable People Card and National Police Check (or ability to gain)

**What happens next?**
- Suitable applicants will be contacted via phone for an initial discussion regarding this apprenticeship.
- You may be asked to complete aptitude testing, or other documentation.
- The third stage of recruitment involves a face to face interview with Work & Training and also the host employer.
- If you are the successful applicant, you will be signed up in to your qualification, and a start date will be arranged
