What can you gain from completing an apprenticeship through Work & Training?

  • You would be employed by Work & Training the largest employer of Apprentices and Trainees in Tasmania, and hosted for the duration of your apprenticeship.
  • You would be part of a committed team and under guidance of the site supervisor.
  • Theory training is conducted at TasTAFE.
  • Your Work & Training Business Consultant provides mentoring and employment support.
  • At the completion of your apprenticeship you would receive a nationally recognised
    Certificate III in Carpentry (CPC30220)

Learn how to:

  • Assist in Commercial construction of large scale developments.
  • Undertake formwork and suspended slabs.
  • Safely demolish existing structures, renovate and extend current structures.
  • Work safely on busy building sites, alongside of other trade persons.
  • Utilise power tools safely and in accordance to WHS policies and procedures.

Desired attributes:

  • VET Construction qualification.
  • Previous work experience.

Essential attributes:

  • Hold a current drivers licence and a reliable vehicle.
  • Have a White Card
  • Have the ability to pass a preemployment medical that includes drug and alcohol testing.
  • Have a current Working with Vulnerable People Card and National Police Check (or ability to gain)

What happens next?

  • Suitable applicants will be contacted via phone for an initial discussion regarding this apprenticeship.
  • You may be asked to complete aptitude testing, or other documentation.
  • The third stage of recruitment involves a face to face interview with Work & Training and also the host employer.
  • If you are the successful applicant, you will be signed up in to your qualification, and a start date will be arranged
