**About the Role**:
The Faculty of Health comprises the Schools of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, Health and Social Development, Nursing and Midwifery, Medicine and Psychology. The Research Assistant reports to the Project Manager and Professor of Violence Prevention and Addiction within the School of Psychology (CONNECT Research and Training Initiative).
The Trauma Aware Geelong Initiative is a community-driven and place-based effort focused on increasing awareness of trauma and fostering empathic responses within the Geelong region. Through collaborative networks, comprehensive training, strategic planning, and research endeavours, Trauma Aware Geelong aims to create supportive environments that promote healing and resilience among individuals living within the Geelong area and surrounds.

**To be successful, you’ll have**:

- Experience in being a Research Assistant
- Research and Evaluation Expertise: Proficiency in conducting organisational needs assessments, outcome evaluations, and research projects, along with experience in grant writing and data analysis to support evidence-based decision-making and program improvement.
- Community Engagement and Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative networks, engaging diverse stakeholders in community-driven initiatives to address complex social issues like trauma awareness or other related areas.

**Your key responsibilities will be**:
1. Community Engagement
- Building community contacts and networks to support and engage with TAG
- Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, including community partners, funders, people with lived experience and researchers.

2. Research Skills in Program Development, Co-Design, and Evaluation:

- Conduct research to inform the development, co-design, and evaluation of trauma-aware programs within the Geelong Initiative.
- Write compelling grant proposals tailored to various philanthropic, government, and research audiences to secure funding for the Trauma Aware Geelong Initiative.

3. Grant Writing:

- Write compelling grant proposals tailored to various philanthropic, government, and research audiences to secure funding for the Trauma Aware Geelong Initiative.

4. Strategic Planning:

- Assist in articulating strategic goals and objectives for the initiative.
- Develop and maintain strategic plans to guide project implementation and ensure alignment with organisational objectives.

5. Project Management and Stakeholder/Relationship Skills:

- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure timely delivery of project milestones.

6. Trauma-Informed Practice:

- Integrate trauma-sensitive approaches into project strategies and activities to create a supportive environment for participants.

7. Other Duties:

- Any other duties as directed, commensurate with the scope and classification of the position
