**POSITION OVERVIEW**:
The CHS Medical Services Group (MSG) includes Medical Imaging, ACT Pathology, Pharmacy, Healthcare Technology Management, MOSCETU, the GP Liaison Unit (GPLU) and the CHS Library.

MOSCETU has responsibility for:
The development, co-ordination, management, and facilitation of the Junior Medical Officer (JMO) Education and Training Program including welfare and support.

The Simulation Unit provides assistance for clinicians to practice skills and processes in a safe learning environment. Simulation allows practice of both technical and non-technical skills without the fear of causing harm. Simulation is able to enhance the confidence of learners, boost morale, and improves patient safety and outcomes. The Simulation Unit is responsible for assisting with and supporting the development, implementation, and evaluation of simulation.
- Manage the recruitment, rostering and administration related to the Junior Medical workforce.The process for credentialing and defining the scope of clinical practice of senior doctors and dentists seeking an appointment or re-appointment to a public health facility in the ACT and the process for the management of a complaint or concern about the clinical competence of a senior doctor or dentist working in a public health facility in the ACT. The unit also manages the work of the ACT Health Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC). It also provides ad-hoc clinical governance advice to the Executive Director Medical Services, Canberra Health Services Chief Executive Officer and ACT Health’s Director-General.

The Medical Education Unit (MEU) sits within MOSCETU at Canberra Health Services. The MEU oversees the training and supervision of medical officers in their first and second postgraduate years in accordance with the requirements of the Canberra Region Medical Education Council (CRMEC).

**DUTIES**:
Under limited direction of the Senior Director MOSCETU, you will manage, facilitate and co-ordinate the JMO education programs, assessments, and pastoral care and support to the PGY1 and 2 junior doctors.

You will:

- Consult, negotiate and support the Director of Prevocational Education and Training to expand and improve the education and training of PGY1 and 2 junior doctors and to address any program deficiencies as and when they are identified. Identify the educational needs of medical staff at PGY1 and 2 level, in accordance with the CRMEC accreditation standards. Liaise with the CRMEC around operational matters of education and management of accreditation by CRMEC including term descriptions.
- Facilitate and arrange the implementation and evaluation of the medical education programs at Canberra Hospital including JMO Orientation (Interns, RMOs and Registrars) and three weekly JMO Teaching Sessions.
- Trial and evaluate educational resource material including curriculum frameworks and clinical training portfolios.
- Take a leadership role on the Network and Prevocational Education and Training Committees and provide high-level professional advice on matters relating to the junior doctor training programs across the ACT Network.
- Provide leadership and support to the Medical Education and Simulation Unit.
- Provide interventional (planned and ad hoc) supportive and pastoral type care to Junior Medical Officers both internal to TCH and to seconded sites who may present in crisis or acute distress from a variety of causative factors. Work closely with the DPET Office and Prevocational Medical Officers to provide continuity of support and pastoral care of the Junior Medical Workforce.
