About the VGSO

About the branch and role
The Workplace Relations and Occupational Safety Branch provides advice and conducts litigation in relation to all aspects of Victorian public sector employment, industrial relations, occupational health and safety and discrimination law. It is a small close knit team that enjoy working collaboratively together and often arrange virtual or in office catch ups.

**Responsibilities**:

- Preparing correspondence and documents - drafting and typing (dictaphone)
- Amending & formatting documents
- File management - maintaining orderly, up to date legal files in electronic and hard copy format
- Assisting with monthly billing
- General administration - photocopying, couriers, billing, relieving reception
- Looking for ways to reduce the administrative workload of your solicitors

Skills and experience
- Some prior experience working as a Legal Assistant in a law firm is desirable,
- Experience in working in large documents dealing with formatting/corruption issues and a sound knowledge MS word is desirable;
- Confident in providing high level legal administrative assistance to more than one solicitor
- Self-starter who takes initiative and has the ability to operate autonomously
- High attention to detail with a commitment to service excellence
