**The opportunity**

The M7 will be widened to six lanes between Prestons and Oakhurst, meaning drivers will be able to travel along this major Western Sydney road more quickly and safely, benefitting both commuters and business that rely on this key freight route.

The project will also include integrate the M7 with the new M12, a 16 kilometre-long toll-free motorway that will connect to the new Western Sydney International Airport and Western Parkland City.

This will support workers and families across Western Sydney by cutting travel times and improving access to industrial hubs including Bradfield.

The primary purpose of the Surveillance Officer Level Three position is to provide a specialist surveillance capability in an advanced or specialist trade/ engineering discipline. The Surveillance Officer Level Three is expected to lead highly complex or specialist surveillance activities on nominated contract works for the administration of road, bridge and/or maritime maintenance and construction works to ensure delivery in accordance with client time, quality and scope requirements.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Provide a highly specialist, non-routine surveillance capability which may require advanced trade qualifications, an advanced body of knowledge or specialist licensing in support of Agency works in order to verify that work has been performed in accordance with applicable standards, specifications and processes.
- Monitor, support and influence development partner progress against agreed milestones and deliverables in highly specialized and complex construction and/or engineering projects to support the Agency’s program of work.
- Coach and mentor experienced Surveillance Officers, engineering and project staff in order to develop and enhance best-practice surveillance and project practices within their area of expertise.
- Act as a source of specialized technical advice for trades, engineering and project staff within their area of specialization in order to build capability and improve project and/ or maintenance outcomes.
- Exercise Agency Delegations on site with significant autonomy and limited reach back in order to represent the needs of the Agency to delivery partners and provide in situ Agency support to delivery partners.
- Anticipate complex technical issues and provide advice on the remediation of these issues to project and contract engineers and/ or managers in order to support best practice project/ contract management and works delivery.

**About you**
- Extensive experience with technologies, practices and processes of civil construction and maintenance works in a highly specialised field relevant to Agency works.
- Demonstrated ability to source, analyse, interpret and contribute to project, construction and contract documentation in a complex, specialized field.
- Extensive experience in best-practice record keeping and document management in a construction or maintenance environment.
- Advanced interpersonal, conflict resolution and negotiation skills and a proven ability to foster positive, collaborative and constructive relationships in a construction and/ or maintenance environment.
