**Fingerprints Sciences Group Function**: - The primary functions of the FSG are the recovery and identification of fingerprint evidence from casework and the maintenance and administration of known fingerprint samples in accordance with Section 464 of the Victorian Crimes Fingerprint Act 1958. Evidence from crime scenes and samples from unknown persons are examined to recover and identify fingerprint evidence and link persons of interest to casework.

**About the role**:
The FO-3 Forensic Caseworker - contributes to ensuring a high level of fingerprint service delivery, providing technical and administrative support in relation to fingerprint casework management and evidence recovery.

- As the successful applicant, some of your duties will include:_
- Undertake case work and report in own name.
- Convey specialist knowledge and judgement that impacts on legal deliberations and/or investigations including in the court context where opinion evidence is required.
- Deliver discipline related presentations using prescribed methods and procedures in casework.
- Attend, and examine crime scenes, and process related samples.
- Make qualified judgements that impact on the subsequent investigation and legal deliberations associated with casework.
- Assist in research and development, and training and development of staff by communicating professional/scientific/technical concepts.
- Supervise other staff as required.

**Skills & Experience**
- As the successful applicant, you will have: _
- Scientific/technical achievement, ability to interpret examinations and to successfully present technical and discipline related knowledge and advice to scientific/technical and non-scientific personnel at all levels, particularly in a Court context.
- Proven commitment to quality in casework and/or research or the ability to provide it.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and/or within a team environment.
- Ability to conduct scene examinations where little or no supervisory advice is available.
- Demonstrated Conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills.
- An understanding of the customer service requirements of the position and a demonstrated record of strong commitment and achievement in meeting customer needs.
- A proven record of ethical behaviour and a demonstrated commitment to the Victoria Police Code of Ethics and Conduct and the Organisational Values.

- Position is located at 31 Forensic drive Macleod, Victoria.
- The position may require the incumbent to work outside the ordinary hours e.g. (Shift work/Overtime/On call), and attend crime scenes
