**Role Description/Criteria**

**Learning Area Leader - Health & Physical Education (POL 2)**

Catholic Regional College Caroline Springs is a co-educational Catholic school providing education to over 1000 students in Melbourne’s West. The College has undergone an expansion of facilities and enrolments in recent times, with growth expected to continue. As a result, the College has re-structured all Position of Leadership roles to best cater to these growing needs.

As part of this restructuring, we are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate teacher to join our College in the role of Learning Area Leader - Health & Physical Education.

The Learning Area Leader - Health & Physical Education is responsible to the Deputy Principal Learning & Teaching and Director of Curriculum & Pedagogy for the duties outlined below in accordance with Catholic Regional College Caroline Springs policies and procedures. The role of the Learning Area Leader - Health & Physical Education consistent with the College Mission Statement is to provide a vision for and leadership in the provision of a quality Health & Physical Education educational program, consistent with a culture of transformation and innovation.

The responsibility of the Learning Area Leader - Health & Physical Education is to be an expert reference for teaching staff in the curriculum and pedagogy of the Health & Physical Education Learning Areas. The Learning Area Leader - Health & Physical Education will be required to have an intimate knowledge of the Victorian Curriculum requirements for curriculum-based learning across the year levels and expertise in contemporary pedagogy to support curriculum delivery. The Learning Area Leader - Health & Physical Education will meet regularly with the Director of Curriculum & Pedagogy to discuss specific and cross-curricular learning area priorities and ensure their implementation.

The Learning Area Leader - Health & Physical Education will actively participate in the implementation of the College Vision and Mission Statement and be guided by the College motto of Live Fully Act Justly.

The successful applicant will hold a Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration and will have demonstrated commitment to Catholic education and to the safety, wellbeing, and protection of all children in our care.

The position will commence at the beginning of the 2024 school year (29 January 2024) and will hold a full-time ongoing teaching role on appointment, with a leadership tenure of 3 years.
