We are currently creating a world-leading centre for innovation on-site at Macquarie University that represents a new era for hearing and vision loss. This nationally significant social infrastructure project will be a place to nurture, trial and share new ideas and form new partnerships that will drive better outcomes for people who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind or have low vision.

**The Role**

NextSense has an exciting opportunity for a Teacher of the Deaf to join our Early Intervention (Hearing) team. This is a permanent full-time role, which reports directly to the Area Manager.

In late 2023, NextSense will relocate from our North Rocks campus to our purpose-built Centre for Innovation at **Macquarie University**. This location will be a hub for innovation and advancements in research, education and care in the fields of hearing and vision loss.

- providing high quality, client-centred early intervention services that assist individuals with hearing loss to achieve their goals and aspirations
- using a person/family centred framework when providing services

**Desired Skills and Experience**:
To be successful in this role you'll need to demonstrate you meet the following selection criteria.

Essential:

- Relevant degree or recognised teaching qualification in Education of the Deaf.
- Demonstrated experience in Early Intervention using a Keyworker model.
- Be able to work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary Team around the child.
- Experience working towards goals and key performance indicators.
- You are obliged to become familiar with, and comply with child protection policies and legislation, as amended from time to time
- Working with Children Check
- NDIS worker screening check

Desirable:

- Working knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) framework
- Willing to learn new systems, processes and frameworks
- Eligible for National Association of Australian Teacher of the Deaf membership
