The Head of ESG and Reputational Risk role is a key risk management role that has a broad remit and responsibilities for leading and managing risk stewardship and advisory activities for ESG and Reputational Risks across AUH and the New Zealand branch, also acting as the Programme Manager and workstream lead for the AUH and NZ Climate Risk Programmes. ESG Risks that need to be managed include climate, sustainability, modern slavery, human rights, indigenous reconciliation and access and inclusion.

This is a newly created role within a new-sub team for Risk and Compliance (R&C), and has no direct or indirect reports.

This role will lead Risk Stewardship of ESG and Reputational Risks for AUH and NZ and will act as the Programme Manager for the AUH and NZ Climate Risk Programmes. This is a new role within a new sub-function.

**Key responsibilities**
- Risk stewardship with respect to ESG and Reputational Risk-related policies.
- Manage the AUH and NZ Climate Risk Programmes, act as lead for the Governance and Risk Management workstreams and the R&C lead for other workstreams, including mandatory disclosures.
- Ownership of all reporting as required to both formal and informal committees and forums, including ownership of the ESG Forum and managing the secretariat.
- Lead the development and implementation of Human Rights risk assessment and controls across AUH and NZM.
- Enhance and implement the Reputational Risk framework across AUH and NZM.
- Working with the CRCO, the role requires strong partnership with key stakeholders within AUH and NZM.
Requirements

**Key requirements**
- Undergraduate or post-graduate degree in a related field
- Seasoned professional with experience in one or more senior risk or compliance roles, to include significant ESG related experience.
- Excellent understanding of banking and financial service regulations, with extensive experience in the financial industry.
- Awareness of key Australian regulatory change initiatives and their impacts on the businesses.
- Extensive knowledge of the HSBC Group structure, its business and personnel and a deep understanding of HSBC's corporate culture.
- Ability to clearly articulate business and regulatory implications of analysis and findings.
- Experience of interpreting and analysing a large volume of information and/or data and provide succinct summary for management.
- Have leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively within teams
- Be of strong character, who is resilient and has a ‘can-do approach’
- Completion driven self-starter, who has excellent business judgment and ability to solve complex issues.
