**Role Description/Criteria**

St Mary's School is an integral part of the faith community of Geelong and is one of four parish primary schools. St Mary's School is governed under the authority of Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Limited (MACS) ABN 18643442371. MACS is the employer of employees at St Mary's School.

We are seeking a passionate, highly skilled language expert who will embrace the school's vision for language learning - teachers as co-learners. This part-time fixed-term position commences on Monday January 29th, 2024 and concluding on Sunday January 27th, 2025.

Applications are invited from highly motivated, fluent Italian speakers, to support classroom educators in the implementation of our daily language program and assist in creating resources to support its implementation.

The time fraction is negotiable up to 30 hours a week, with 2.75 hours per day for scheduled facilitation of Italian in all classes from Foundation to Year 6.

The remaining negotiated time fraction, if desired, will be as a Learning Support Officer supporting classroom practice.

These successful applicants will have;
- a strong commitment to Catholic education and the ethos of Catholic schools
- a fluency in the Italian language
- a commitment to adopting the school's approach to language learning
- the skills and knowledge to teach students and school staff Italian
- a sound understanding of the Child Safe Standards and a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of all children and have a current Working with Children's Check
- the appropriate skills and abilities necessary to assist classroom teachers to provide students with rich and rewarding Italian language experiences, catering for individual needs in a supportive, open learning environment
- the ability to work and plan collaboratively and contribute to the ongoing professional learning of the school community
- an enthusiasm for sharing of our school's practice; facilitating Italian lessons for visitors and school tours
- strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain partnerships and enhance the welcoming atmosphere of the school and parish
- full availability for each school term in 2024
