**About the Opportunity**
The team at Camden and Campbelltown Hospitals are seeking an eager, collaborative and compassionate Aboriginal Liaison Officer (ALO) to join the Social Work Department.

We are looking for someone who is engaging, approachable and passionate about Health Services and the Aboriginal Community. You will have a sound understanding of the current Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health priorities and be able to communicate with our consumers, stakeholders and communities. You will be able to assess, support and assist clients and help access community resources.

Campbelltown has the largest Aboriginal community in South Western Sydney with a large number of the Community accessing Camden and Campbelltown Hospitals. The primary role of the ALO position is to provide culturally targeted psychosocial and practical support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients in Campbelltown and Camden Hospitals.

The ALO Service at Camden & Campbelltown Hospital responds to patients accessing both inpatient and outpatient settings. The ALO’s provide culturally sensitive ‘Women’s’ & ‘Men’s’ business to Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander patients, carer’s and families.

The ALO is responsible for supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients/carers/consumers in hospital settings.

The ALO is required to work effectively with staff of the hospital and other agencies including local Aboriginal Medical Service (AMS) and related community based services, in order to provide support and assistance to patients/carers/consumers receiving care from the hospital and community health services.

- Relevant qualifications (graduate or non-graduate) related to health
- Demonstrated willingness to learn and commitment to undertaking further education
- Comprehensive understanding of Aboriginal culture and social issues in relation to health matters
- Demonstrated experience in networking, demonstrating a broad knowledge of the services available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills and sound computer skills
