**About the job**
The position of
**Employee Relations Advisor** advises and supports leaders and employees of Council on ER matters - specialist industrial relations and remuneration matters.

This role will play a key part in negotiating/bargaining agreements, facilitating conversations with the unions and providing coaching and support across the organisation regarding interpretations, pay claims/disparities etc. This person will play a key part, if not lead alongside the bargaining group - the bargaining process; bargaining of the new agreement will commence towards the end of the 2023 year.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Provide specialist advice to the HR and payroll teams, and leaders on complex ER/IR and rem matters, including implementation of industrial instruments and complex industrial matters.
- Analyse and interpret employment legislation and instruments including Awards, Certified Agreement and the Qld Industrial Relations Act.
- Participate in organisational change processes and engage in consultation and communication with employees and unions.
- Develop resources and education materials and present educational programs to the organisation on ER matters and the mitigation of risk.
- Draft industrial relations related letters, contracts, documents and submissions.
- Research, collate data and develop reports on IR and rem matters for the implementation and bargaining of industrial instruments.

**About you**
To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Experience in a similar IR role preferably in a Queensland local government.
- Strong knowledge of relevant workplace relations legislation, including Queensland IR Act - or proven ability to rapidly acquire.
- Tertiary qualifications in IR, Law, HR or related field.
- Proven ability to establish positive working relationships with team, leaders, employees and external stakeholders including unions.
- Experience developing and delivering presentations and workshops
