**Who are we?**

Wintringham is a Not for Profit organisation which provides aged care services to those who are financially disadvantaged, have previously been homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless. Employing over 950 staff, Wintringham provides care and support services through residential facilities as well as community services, which assist an elderly person to retain their chosen lifestyles, habits and activities and to be as independent as they choose to be.

**Your new role**

Wintringham is seeking either a Full Time or Part Time Recreation Officer on an ongoing basis, with the option to work weekends (but this is not a necessity). In this role you will work with clients independently one on one in the community, and also with clients under 65 years old, who live in residential aged care, to support their independence and participation in the community. You will assist the Recreation Co-ordinator to continually develop and facilitate individual recreational pursuits designed to meet the leisure needs of each client. Multiple positions available, located in the Western and Northern Metro Regions of Victoria.

**So - what is a day in the life of a Recreation Officer?**

No two days will be the same in this fast paced and dynamic role. In your new role, some of the requirements will include:

- **Recreation**:assist clients to pursue and develop their recreational pursuits through one-on-one facilitation
- **Community Support**: escorting our clients on community outings e.g. shopping trips, excursions, lunches, appointments
- **Transport**: escorting our clients to medical and allied health appointments, hospital visits and respite care

**Your responsibilities and duties will include**:

- Ensuring clients individual recreation interests are established and facilitated.
- Encouraging clients to maintain their community associations and contacts.
- Promoting recreational opportunities available within the broader community.
- Facilitating clients access to programs that will assist the maintenance of their independence.
- Facilitating clients access to venues, events and recreational opportunities.
- Assisting in maintaining relevant and accurate documentation, ensuring it is up to date and meets current regulatory requirements.
- Duties as directed by the Recreation Coordinator.
- Current drivers licence (mandatory)
- Working reliable vehicle (mandatory)
- Recreation, Leisure and Lifestyle or equivalent qualifications (soon-to-be or recent graduates are encouraged to apply)
- Ability and desire to work with clients with challenging and complex needs
- Interest in social justice issues
- Prior experience in Homelessness, Aged Care, Welfare, Disability, Allied Health or Community Care
- Current First Aid Certificate 2
