**Role**:
Work with identified disengaged and diverse learners in alternate, individualised education programs and reintegrate to mainstream classes or alternative education pathways.

The program will have teachers skilled in Literacy, Numeracy, Personal Development and use Trauma Informed Practices to work in a team (including a Coordinator, Classroom teacher and Integration Aide) with these students in an alternative program setting.

**The Coordinator role will have a time allowance of 5 lessons per week to undertake the responsibilities listed below to ensure the curriculum meets the needs of the students in the program and attend professional team meetings. This position also attracts a special payment of $5000 per annum (additional to the teacher classification)**

The Base Camp Program Coordinator/Teacher reports directly to the Assistant Principal (DIP).

Area of responsibility and accountability: Base Camp program
- Manage teaching and learning within an alternate classroom space for students according to referrals from Year Level Coordinators, Head of School & Wellbeing Team
- Plan, develop and teach units of work, assess and report on learning against the Vic F-10 curriculum
- Collaborate with other staff, leading teachers, principal class and outside agencies to compile realistic and meaningful education strategies, personalised engagement programs which include Individual Support Learning Plans and dissemination of relevant information to key stakeholders.
- Re-engage individuals focussing on their strengths and taking a positive approach to teaching and learning outside mainstream classes using a Positive Behaviour and Trauma Informed framework
- Provide regular contact with parents of Base Camp students to provide progress reports
- Enforce BSE code of conduct and policies/processes
- Track attendance data for base camp students and develop strategies to improve attendance for individual students
- Co plan with YLC and classroom teachers to transition students back into BSE classes when appropriate and build the capacity of colleagues via modelling and mentoring
- Liaise with alternative education settings to transition students to future educational pathways
- Participate in activities such as parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions
- Undertake classroom teaching related and organisational duties that contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or program within the school
- Attend Student Support Group and Care Team Meetings for Base Camp students to inform student centred plans such as IEPs, BSPs and Attendance & Engagement Plans

Improvement in student attendance for group (reduce 20+ days absent to 30%)

Improvement in student attitudes to school by having a positive climate for learning and support (improve student motivation and interest to 58%)

Transition students to educational pathways post program of instruction (increase student retention from year 7 to year 10 to 85%)
