We have an opportunity for a Team Leader Surveillance, Preparedness and Eradication to be part of our Biosecurity Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

The primary purpose of the Team Leader, Surveillance, Preparedness and Eradication is to ensure that South Australia is appropriately prepared for an incursion of an emergency plant pest (excluding fruit flies that already occur within Australia) and controls or eradicates emergency plant pest incursions if they occur in accordance with agreed plans or procedures.

The role contributes the delivery of the agency’s priorities, including:

- Increasing productivity of our primary industries and agribusinesses.
- Maintaining surveillance, preparedness, and eradication by working with primary industries to respond to evolving requirements of domestic and global markets and consumers.
- Managing adverse events effectively and helping primary industries and communities improve preparedness, resilience and recover well.
- Regulatory excellence and reforms of our legislative framework and programs to drive efficiency and effectiveness and unlock potential.
- Build partnerships with industry, stakeholders, research organisations and regional communities.
- Implement the National Plant Health Surveillance Program in South Australia to identify plant pest risks before they establish and negatively impact production or market access.

The role contributes to delivering this by providing expertise and leadership for coordinating, developing, and strategically managing of surveillance and plant pest control programs and projects and associated policies, procedures, budgets, and performance standards.

**Special Conditions**
- Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
- Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
- **Desirable**: A qualification in entomology or agricultural.

**Requirements**:

- Possession of a current driver’s license and willingness to drive.
- Out-of-hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.
- Australian residency or a current works permit is required (the applicant is responsible for providing evidence of a current work permit).
- The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.
- Successful applicants will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) before being made an offer of employment.
