**Our Client**

Our client, a well-established, iconic, privately owned Australian Sports team is looking for a dynamic and energetic full-time **Media and Communications Manager** to join their team in the new year.

Reporting to the Commercial Sales Manager, this position will suit someone with 4 - 6 years’ relevant experience and who is looking to establish a long-term career in a fun, challenging and professional sports environment.

**The Position**

You will manage corporate communications and media functions in order to gain more coverage and increase the team profile, its corporate partners and athletes; and to establish and maintain positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

**The Responsibilities**
- Create compelling stories on the Team and Team Partners whilst also working with the wider commercial team’s requirements
- Ideation of content and social media strategy (creating unique compelling content)
- Create and pitch ideas to the sport’s specific media outlets and traditional media
- Prepare and issue approved media releases and associated materials to media
- Be confident in public speaking and presenting
- Produce Team Reports and Media Releases on behalf of the team
- Scheduling athlete interviews for Radio, TV, Press and Industry Media Television
- Maintain database of key media contacts and general information for media
- Attend all or a majority of team events throughout the season
- Manage season and event launches, and major announcements
- Liaise with event promoters to plan and implement media activities

**About You**

Of course, you will be able to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders such as:

- Governments, Councils and key partners
- Major metro and regional newspapers, TV and radio
- Broadcast partners
- Online media and partners
- PR contractors
- Event promoters
- Journalists, photographers and media representatives

And it would go without saying that you will have:

- Communications, journalism degree and/or direct industry experience (or similar)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proven history in media relations and working with media

Experience in a sport and/or entertainment businesses is desirable, and you’ll be:

- Friendly and professional
- Team player and ability to assist the team as required
- Highly organised and capable of multi-tasking
- A problem solver with an ability to perform under pressure
- Have consistently high standards of professionalism
- Writing and editing skills with attention to detail for fact-checking
- A Growth Mindset and willingness to support the wider business
