**Role**:
Learning Specialists will be highly skilled classroom practitioners who continue to spend the majority of their time in the classroom delivering high-quality teaching and learning and have a range of responsibilities related to their expertise, including teaching demonstration lessons, observing and providing feedback to other teachers and facilitating school-based professional learning. Learning Specialists are expected to have deep knowledge and expertise in high quality teaching and learning in delivering improved achievement, engagement and wellbeing for students. The role of the Learning Specialist will be to model excellence in teaching and learning through demonstration lessons and, mentoring and coaching teachers in improving the skill, knowledge and effectiveness of the teaching workforce.

The Learning Specialist role is aimed at building excellence in teaching and learning within the Teaching Service.

**Responsibilities**:
Learning Specialist - Domain Leader of Humanities is an Educational leader with a whole school focus and the responsibility for implementing and managing the curriculum across their Domain and school and take responsibility for ensuring appropriate curriculum and pedagogical procedures are embedded into the professional practices of all teachers.

They are highly skilled classroom practitioners who continue to spend the majority of their time in the classroom delivering high-quality teaching and learning and have a range of responsibilities related to their leadership roles. They are expected to have deep knowledge and expertise in high-quality teaching and learning in delivering improved achievement, engagement, and wellbeing for students.

All Leaders at Cheltenham Secondary College will have the responsibility to model excellence in teaching and learning through demonstration within their classroom, mentoring and coaching teachers in improving the skill, knowledge, and effectiveness of all teachers within their domain and across the college.

They will assist teachers and their Domain area in delivering curriculum that is mandated by the The Victorian Curriculum and the implementation of the VCAA VCE Study designs. They will take account of current education research on the ways to personalise the learning opportunities through curriculum to meet their unique learning needs of our students. They will also have proven expertise as a leader in pedagogy that embraces the Principles of Learning and Teaching, have high-level knowledge of ICT and the ways it can be used to enhance curriculum delivery, and be able to lead and implement programs.

They will be responsible for providing an umbrella structure to support the curriculum needs of students and staff and will sit on the Learning & Teaching (Curriculum) Committee that is charged with the responsibility of being visionary and innovative in their leadership and will be comprised of the all Domain Leaders and other members of the Leadership Team and Principal Class.

They will provide educational leadership in the development, co-ordination and implementation of the curriculum that embrace policy set by the DET and School Council.
