**About the role**:
This role collaborates and works with a range of stakeholders, including internal IT technical and support teams as well as governance and policy groups, and users to implement security policies that are developed to provide a high-level security for Melbourne Polytechnic data and technology assets.

**Duties**:

- Primary escalation point within ICT Services and key contact for all significant information security events or incidents, leading security response activities in consultation with incident response handlers, Information Management and Security, and agreed playbook response and actions, policies and procedures including but not limited to:

- Ensuring that incidents are handled according to agreed procedures.
- Gathering of evidence following forensic evidence procedures including maintaining a chain of custody
- Facilitating recovery, following resolution of incidents.
- Ensuring adequate documentation of resolved incidents prior to closure.
- Analysis of incident root causes and rectification activities to minimise probability of recurrence and contribute to service improvement.
- Analysing metrics and reports on performance of incident management processes.
- Monitor security threat detection technologies, and appropriately respond to security threats, ensuring appropriate ICT resources are engaged and mitigation techniques are applied in line with playbook responses, and are appropriately documented in support systems such as the ITSM.
- Oversee and technically Implement Cyber Security initiatives, ensuring appropriate development and implementation of flexible security solutions that are dictated by the needs of a continually changing business and IT environment, ensuring that projects align to ICT and Information Management and Security strategic direction and digital vision.

**Skills and experience required**:

- Completion of a relevant post graduate IT qualification and experience combined with 5 years subsequent relevant work experience and extensive relevant experience and technical expertise in either Security Operations, Data Security or Digital Forensics, or relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Under broad direction and independently, a demonstrated experience coordinating IT security initiatives and projects that are strategically aligned with institute goals and digital vision engendered by IT senior management and delivered efficiently.
- Demonstrated high level communication skills to effectively and efficiently liaise with stakeholders across the organization.
