Courtenay Gardens Primary School is located in Cranbourne North, in the City of Casey. Student enrolment is currently at 801 from Prep to Grade 6. Students come from a range of backgrounds with an increasing proportion having English as an additional language.

The teaching and learning program includes a reader¿s and writer¿s workshop approach in literacy and an engaging hands-on maths workshop model. We implement a play-based Discovery Learning approach to inquiry in prep and year 1. A project-based inquiry approach is implemented for years 2-6.
Underpinning our teaching and learning is a whole-school Teacher Instructional Model. The school operates a Professional Learning Community (PLC) approach to support the teaching and learning, as well as, wellbeing school goals. All PLCs engage in focused cycles of inquiry to enhance teacher practice and improve student learning outcomes.
The school has a Wellbeing Team, comprising two full-time teachers and an ES member, to support the wellbeing and inclusion of all students, using the Multi-tiered system of supports for Learning and Wellbeing. There are two full-time EAL teachers and a Multicultural Education Aide, supporting our English as an additional language students and families, including recent arrivals and refugees. The school provides significant literacy and numeracy support through a range of intervention programs. There is a dedicated Program for Students with a Disability (PSD) co-ordinator supporting students with disability and additional learning needs. There is a student counselling service onsite.
Specialist areas include physical education, science, STEM, art, performing arts, music and LOTE- Indonesian. Our facilities include a full-size gym, science lab, performing arts centre, and a new food garden. There are two digital learning coaches supporting teachers and students in the learning of digital technologies. Environmental science is an emerging learning area in relation to our food garden.
The school¿s leadership team comprises the principal, three assistant principals, leading teacher
- curriculum, leading teacher
- wellbeing, leading teacher-curriculum and three learning specialists
- attached to sub-schools and each out of the classroom three days per week. Peer observations, coaching, mentoring and collaborative approaches are key improvement strategies. The School Improvement Team oversees the performance of the school in relation to school goals and priorities.
The school offers an Out of Hours School Care and Vacation program and has an active Parents¿ Association.
