**Purpose of the role**
In consultation with support programs such as Student Services and the Lifeworks team, the Level Coordinator manages
the College life of all students at his/her level. The primary focus is to lead, manage, organise and promote excellence in
student development. The position of Level Coordinator has multiple responsibilities and a structure that requires working
closely with students, teachers, College management and parents.
**Major Duties**
**Manage Student Welfare**
- Establish effective communication channels with students regarding daily routines, College ‘tone’ and student
activities e.g. via noticeboards, electronic communication, assemblies and meetings
- Organise procedures to act upon solicited and unsolicited feedback from staff on behaviour (within the
framework of the Student Management Policy)
- In consultation with support teams, liaise with parents regarding general student welfare issues
- In conjunction with Student Services department, teachers, staff and parents, identify students with specific
social, emotional or learning needs and respond to these needs
- Monitor student performance including attendance, academic progress, co-curricular involvement and
demeanour
- Consult formally and informally with the Student Services department and attend Student Services
meetings
- Raise awareness within the student body of the College’s harassment policy and issues of mutual respect and
tolerance
- Ensure students operate safely within the framework of College and year level expectations
- Celebrate achievements in the co-curricular program
- Maintain Communication Logs
- Participate in the formal handover to the following year Level Coordinator
- Understand and respond to psychometric testing

**Lead and Support Mentors and Year 9 teachers**
- Coordinate mentor meeting
- Model effective teaching practice, with special emphasis on the use of ICT in the classroom
- Proactively support effective teaching practices
- Provide mediation support between teachers and students and teachers and parents
- Communicate pastoral issues affecting students to class teachers
- Provide strategies on matters of classroom discipline, students with special needs and communication with
parents
**Transition Co-ordination**
- Oversee organisation of ELTHAM for a Day (EFAD) supported by the Head of City Campus and the enrolments
team
- Lead ELTHAM in Action (EIA) and individual tours in the absence of the Head of City Campus and/or the Director
of the Senior School
- In conjunction with the Head of City Campus, develop and deliver the Year 9 orientation program
**Contribute to College Management Team**
- Liaise with any level specific parent representative bodies and participate in their activities
- Brief Head of City Campus and the Director of Senior School on significant issues involving students in the year group
- Attend meetings with the Director of Senior School, Student Services and Level Coordinators to discuss
students of concern
- Actively develop plans and support programs for the development of students
- Ensure that College expectations are followed, as outlined in the College Rights, Responsibilities and Expectations
- Ensure all relevant information for staff is disseminated appropriately
- Analyse policy and issues that have an impact on their level and on the College as a whole
