**About Our Client**:
PageGroup Safety recruits HSEQ professionals on a temporary, fixed term and permanent basis on behalf of businesses across the South East and wider Queensland.
The HSE Advisor is responsible for providing expert advice, guidance, and support to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. This role involves identifying and mitigating risks, developing and implementing health and safety systems, conducting audits and inspections, and promoting a culture of safety throughout the organisation. The HSE Advisor will collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to establish and maintain effective health and safety programs and initiatives.Responsibilities include:
- Develop, implement and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, and systems in compliance with relevant legalisation, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular inspections, risk assessments, and audits of facilities, equipment, and work processes to identify hazards and potential risks.
- Advise and assist management in implementing corrective actions to address identified risks and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Run Toolbox talks on topics such as accident prevention, emergency response, and proper use of PPE
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and provide recommendations to prevent reoccurrence and improve safety performance.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including management, supervisors, and employees, to foster a culture of safety and promote employee engagement in health and safety initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to health and safety incidents, inspections, training, and compliance activities.
- Liaise with external regulatory agencies, industry organisations, and contractors to stay informed about industry best practices and ensure compliance with relevant requirements.
- Prepare and present reports on health and safety performance, trends, and initiatives to management and other stakeholders.
**The Successful Applicant**:
- Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or a related field.
- Proven experience as a HSE Advisor/Coordinator or similar role, preferably in a diverse and complex work environment.
- Solid knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Experience with preparation for ISO certification or re-certification (highly beneficial)
- Strong analytical skills to identify hazards, assess risks, and develop appropriate control measures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employees at all levels and promote a culture of safety.
- Proficient in conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and developing effective preventive measures.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with health and safety management systems and software tools
