The Role
The Communications Officer contributes to the delivery of innovative communications and media services that raise the profile of our key initiatives, investments and programs, making sure our stakeholders receive the right messages, through the right channels, at the right time.
The Communications Officer is part of the Strategic Communications branch, a high performing team of communications professionals who are passionate about telling the stories that bring the department's work to life and using best practice communications to support the Victorian community.
The Communications Officer may be assigned to any of the department's portfolios and will work on strategic communications that aim to create more opportunities for people through skills and jobs, build the productive capacity of our economy to help business and industry thrive, and create greater opportunities for Victorians to participate in the economy, the creative industries, sport and recreation.
The Team
Strategic Communications is focused on building our department's reputation and delivering on the DJSIR purpose by raising the profile of our key initiatives, investments and programs. The Branch is responsible for:

- the department's communications policy, governance and advice;
- delivery of media pipelines, communications strategy and issues management;
- corporate communications support for DJSIR inclusive of internal, corporate and emergency communications, and
- providing selected communications services on a cost recovery basis.

About you
- Ability to develop and deliver high-quality, innovative media and communication strategies and materials
- Experience providing tactical communication and media advice and support to stakeholders at all levels
- Good interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Ability to contribute to communications and media projects and stakeholder relationships
- Ability to maintain composure, focus under pressure and adapt to change, and make a meaningful contribution to a high-performing team which delivers outstanding results.
