**Selection Criteria**:
- Demonstrated ability to carry out repairs and maintenance to school facilities - both buildings and grounds.
- Demonstrated experience and skill in determining work priorities and their completion within expected timeframes, including flexibility to undertake emergency tasks when necessary.
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision, but also manage the work of other staff, contractors etc.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety policies and demonstrated ability to implement these across a school environment.
- High level interpersonal and communication skills, an ability to problem solve, take initiative and contribute positively to the Milgate Primary School culture.
**Role**:
- Days: 3 days per week. Days negotiable.
- Hours: 7.15am-3.15pm each day
- Tenure: Fixed-term contract 24 April - 20 Dec 2023
**Job Description: Maintenance/Groundskeeper ES1-2**
The Maintenance/Groundskeeper role encompasses the following tasks
- Oversee daily maintenance requests and prioritise works in order of urgency
- Take a hands on approach in performing daily maintenance tasks whenever required which will include removal of graffiti, emergency maintenance, cleaning, deliveries, and general repairs
- Visual and manual inspections of school grounds including flooring, electrics, plumbing, roofing, and general fixtures and fittings
- Identify, report and advise on major furniture, fixture and equipment renewal needs across the school
- Maintaining grounds and gardens including blowing, weeding, planting, spraying, and pruning
- Cleaning up rubbish and debris from grounds
- Modifications and repairs to the school property
- Preparation and painting of ad hoc interior and exterior surfaces
- Support of minor project development on grounds and in buildings
- Moving furniture and equipment
- Drive to collect materials or orders
- Maintenance of work-sheds and storerooms
- Set up/ pack down of events that are held onsite eg: School concerts, Information Nights, Graduation etc.
- Other duties as negotiated with Assistant Principal or their delegate
**Responsibilities**:
- Manage the use and maintenance of equipment within a work area.
- Ensure security is maintained within a work area.
- Manage procedures relating to the hiring of school buildings and equipment in accordance with school policy.
- Manage procedures relating to the maintenance of specialist collections, e.g. library resource material and collections.
- Evaluate and select equipment and materials and make recommendations to senior management.
- Develop procedures relating to the use and maintenance of equipment and materials.
- Coordinate the purchase of equipment and materials.
