About the Business Unit
System Governance Unit (SG) is a unit within Governance and Integrity Policy (GIP), Integrity, Legal and Law Reform (ILLR) of the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS).

**There are three teams in System Governance**:

- Governance Strategy, Review and Appointments
- which is responsible for strategic reviews of key justice system entities, management of funding through the Appeal Costs Board, providing support to the Judicial Entitlements Panel, and managing the high priority appointments of judicial officers and key board appointments within the Attorney-General's portfolio
- Legal Assistance: which drives the funding and reporting of services for the community legal sector at both Commonwealth and State level.
- Honorary Justice Services Support - which provides policy, day-to-day management and operational oversight of Victoria's Honorary Justices.

About the Role
The Honorary Justice Communications Officer is a member of the Honorary Justice Services Support (HJSS) team and has a focus on strengthening communication between the HJSS team, DJCS and the cohort of volunteer honorary justices (Justices of the Peace and Bail Justices). Working closely with the Manager and the Senior Stakeholder and Engagement Officer, the role will implement communication strategies in support of the HJSS program of work.

**Some of your duties may include**:

- Plan, write and edit material for a wide variety of purposes such as articles, corporate publications and online content for specific audiences, as well as providing expert editorial and branding advice to the team
- Work with the Senior Stakeholder and Engagement Officer to coordinate, develop and distribute communication materials, providing consistent messages to honorary justices
- Work collaboratively across the Honorary Justices Services Support to ensure the delivery of effective communications that are of a high written and visual standard and that comply with departmental and Victorian Government guidelines.

About You
- Excellent writing and editing skills with proven experience producing a range of high-quality communications materials using clear, concise and grammatically correct language.
- Strong planning and organisation skills with demonstrated project management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically about projects to provide holistic communications advice.
- Demonstrated experience working as part of a team in an operational program or complex project area
- Sound knowledge of government processes
- Intermediate skills in complex word processing, spreadsheet and database functions

Qualification/Requirements
- A relevant tertiary qualification is highly desirable
- Experience in working with, or an understanding of, volunteers (highly desirable)
