- Develop your Project Management career with a leading Tier One mining company
Project lead will be responsible for:
- **Lifecycle Project Delivery**:
- Management of Sustaining Capital projects at Paraburdoo mine sites, typically ranging from $2M to $20M.
- Manage projects through lifecycle (pre-feasibility study, feasibility study, execution, commissioning, handover, closeout).
- Management of all project elements (cost, quality, schedule, site delivery & safety) related to capital projects in accordance with the Rio Tinto Sustaining Capital Portfolio Framework using standard tools, procedures, and specifications.
- Management of works required to complete each project phase including (but not limited to) client requirements, options analysis, site investigation, data collection, carbon reduction strategy, detailed design, technical reviews, risk assessments and workshops, developing project delivery strategy, tendering, tender evaluation, procurement, contract award, early contractor involvement, shutdown planning, resources planning, construction, commissioning, handover, and close out.
- **Management of, and liaison with, the project team**:
- Provide guidance and support to project engineers, site engineers and on-site project advisors
- Collaborate well with project support functions (including procurement, cost analysis, estimators, planners, shutdown schedulers, travel, accommodation, and mobilisation teams).
- Manage consultants; engineering service providers and contractors in the delivery of projects ensuring project objectives are met.
- Challenge stakeholders, consultants, contractors etc to develop innovative solutions with a particular focus on reducing carbon emissions.
- Provide leadership in the management of all aspects of health, safety, environment & community in relation to their capital projects.
- **Stakeholder engagement**:
- Liaise with internal RTIO clients and stakeholders (maintenance, operations, plant, mining) to understand client requirements.
- Develop and gain agreement from key stakeholders on co-commitments for project delivery.
- Engage stakeholder’s, technical assurance, and engineering support teams in design reviews.
- Develop relationships, engage, and liaise with all stakeholders providing progress updates of engineering and construction activities in accordance with the project schedule.
- **Reporting**:
- Provide progress reports and updates as required and directed by your team leader.
- Provide input for and participate in project progress reviews, steering committee meetings, cost forecasting updates, schedule updates.
- Develop and maintain accurate cost estimating, cost forecasting and analysis in accordance with Capital Accounting principles.
- Provide input into schedule updates.
- Capturing, reporting and driving lessons learnt.
- **Capital Funding and Governance**:
- Deliver the project utilising the Rio Tinto Sustaining Capital Portfolio Framework.
- Develop the project and seek endorsement at the conclusion of each project phase in accordance with the Stage Gate framework.
- Identify the business risk for the project and develop the business case.
- Seek capital funding to support each phase of the project.
- Develop and participate in improvement initiatives related to capital project delivery.
- **Safety, Culture and RTIO Core Values**:
- Responsible for demonstrating leadership and positive behaviours to the project team and stakeholders.
- Exhibiting and promoting the RTIO core values: care, courage and curiosity.
- Actively participate in safety programmes like Leadership in the Field, Lifesaving Commitments and Critical Risk Management.
**Experience Required**:
- Experience with project management in studies and construction (leading project team for full life cycle).
- Knowledge and experience with itinerant plant (overhead gantry crane) regulation and standards.
- Experience with delivering capital projects (gated framework).
- Experience with project delivery in the mining industry.
- Bachelor of Engineering - Mechanical or Structural
Or
Trade Certificate + Project Management Training
- Core project delivery skills (cost, schedule, quality) - developing cost estimates, managing budgets, and developing and managing schedules.
- Technical experience in multi-disciplinary projects (i.e. structural, mechanical, electrical, controls) for mining, plant, and processing projects.
- Commercial experience developing and managing contracts, assessing claims and dispute resolution.
