Our team supports effective risk management across all Business Banking Distribution segments, Commercial Banking (CB), Major Client Group (MCG) business, Regional and Agribusiness Banking (RAB) and Small Business Banking (SBB). The Line 1 Risk function primarily focuses on Operational Risk and Compliance whilst also having oversight of Credit Risk and overall portfolio health. We focus on the deployment and effective management of Group Risk Management Framework elements across BB Distribution to ensure that customers are protected, business objectives are achieved and a positive risk culture is embedded.

Reporting into the CB and MCG Line 1 Risk team, your function reports through to the Business Banking Chief Controls Office (BB CCO). This newly created team will focus on the delivery of critical risk management processes and controls for all BB Distribution segments. The team will be a true centre of excellence driving quality, consistent and efficient risk management outcomes. The team is key to achieving BB’s strategic objectives of simple, strong and effective risk management that facilitates business growth and builds a brighter future for all.

As a new team, establishment and development of the team will be supported by leaders across the Line 1 Risk community and you will be expected to use your creativity and initiative to continuously improve processes and controls to strengthen Business Banking risk management outcomes.

This role will be supported by two direct reports.

**On any given day you will**:

- Develop and establish the newly created Line 1 Risk Management centre of excellence
- Develop and coach direct reports to understand the business deeply and be proficient in Line 1 risk management processes and frameworks.
- Work closely with a wide range of stakeholders across BB Distribution businesses to deliver outcomes, provide challenge or develop risk processes including Line 1 Risk, Line 2 Risk and Compliance, Audit and Product teams
- Lead the execution of critical risk management processes and controls with efficiency and excellence including, for example, Data Loss Prevention, Complaints Quality Assurance, Key Risk Indicator management, Cash Advance Facility eligibility assessments
- Provide reporting for input into Segment and BB Risk Governance committees
- Use initiative, creativity and problem solving techniques to continuously improve risk management processes and execution
- Support senior leaders to design and develop future iterations of the centralised team structure and operations
- Foster an inclusive, energetic team culture

**Your experience looks like**:

- Risk Mindset - All CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify and understand, openly discuss and act on current and future risks.
- Sound experience in Line 1 Risk Management & Compliance and / or business banking
- Team mentoring/management experience highly regarded
- Demonstrated ability to work in a complex and fast paced environment
- Continuous improvement capability and strong initiative with the ability to ‘obsess over the customer’
- Ability to analyse/identify risks and opportunities and recommend appropriate actions
- Influencing and consulting skills, the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to think critically and analytically and use data driven insights to solve problems
- Controls design experience
- Facilitation skills
