HOBAN Recruitment is currently partnering with a respected **VIC Local Council **in the search for a highly capable individual to join as a **Municipal Laws Officer (Statutory Laws) **located in **Greensborough, VIC**.

**About the role**:
- Provide advice and assistance to members of the community and general public in regard to policies and legislation governing the functions of the municipal laws unit.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Provide quality information, assistance and advice to the public relating to municipal law enforcement.
- Ensure that complaints are acted upon and responded to in a timely, effective and courteous manner. Prepare correspondence, litter abatement and direction notice's relevant to municipal law enforcement, investigate complaints concerning alleged breaches or relevant Acts, Regulations and Local Laws and within broad Council policy and procedures, take appropriate action necessary to satisfactorily rectify identified breaches.
- Undertake a proactive approach to compliance by identifying and actively dealing with issues as they are identified through daily patrols of the municipality while providing advice and education to ensure compliance with legislation and local laws relevant to the objectives and duties of the position.
- Take appropriate enforcement action using a range of investigative tools, issue and process Notices to Comply and Infringement notices for breaches of Acts, Regulations and Local Laws as authorised.
- Maintain awareness of changes in the relevant Acts and Regulations and report on any changes that may impact on the role of the unit.
- Prepare evidence and reports for prosecution matters and where required, attending Court and giving evidence as necessary.
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to read and interpret relevant legislation, Local Law and Council policies while providing a quality customer service and a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Post-secondary training to Certificate IV in Municipal Law Enforcement, or equivalent and / or relevant experience in a Municipal Laws environment.
- Proven ability to conduct investigations, take appropriate enforcement action and where necessary conduct interviews and prepare briefs of evidence and present evidence in a court of law.
