Demonstrated ability to support teachers to evaluate the impact of social and emotional teaching programs on student wellbeing and engagement.

**SC3** _‘Assessment and reporting’: _Demonstrated exemplary ability to monitor and assess wellbeing at a class, cohort or whole-school level and use this data to lead improvement initiatives. Demonstrated ability to support others in using wellbeing data to inform teaching practice and to provide feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents.

**SC4** ‘_Collaboration and interaction with school community’:_ Demonstrated exemplary interpersonal and Leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to lead collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, parents, paraprofessionals, and the broader school community, particularly when focused on the Disability and Inclusion program, student learning, agency, wellbeing and engagement.

**SC5** _‘Professional requirements’_: Demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate by gaining buy-in and ownership for ideas, gaining agreement to proposals, or involving experts or other third parties to strengthen a case.

**Role**:
The role is a combined role that includes the recent Mental Health in Primary Schools initiative, which provides training in mental health literacy, supporting emerging needs, and building school capacity and receive ongoing support and professional development through a structured and regular Communities of Practice. Training is developed and facilitated by the Melbourne Graduate School of Education at University of Melbourne, supported by Murdoch Children’s Research Institute. As well as supporting our older students navigate the social and emotional world around them.

The Student Wellbeing Coordinator at Lorne P-12 College will support students with any social and emotional needs to engage with school and their peers. An integral component of this role is to facilitate support for teachers when working with students at risk of disengaging from school and/ or their peers. The Wellbeing Coordinator also contributes to the development of high quality programs that promote wellbeing and engagement throughout the College.

The role has a prevention and early intervention focus which involves student counselling (finding relevant supports), developing engagement programs for students 'at risk', and establishing community links and partnerships. The Student Wellbeing Co-ordinator is responsible for the College’s whole school wellbeing plan and building strong engagement and support programs whilst maintaining effective links with outside agencies. The Co-ordinator leads the Student Wellbeing Team which includes: Mental Health Practitioner, Students and staff, and develops programs that foster improved outcomes in line with the College Strategic Plan.

**Responsibilities**:
Duties and responsibilities of the role include but not restricted to:

- building positive relationships with the students
- be able to assess risk to student wellbeing including crisis management and risk assessments
- case management of students
- be able to liaise effectively with students, teacher, parents/carers, staff and non school based agencies complying at all times with professional guidelines and confidentiality
- co-ordinate and manage programs including the development, implementation and the ability to lead programs, dealing with social skills, assertiveness and self esteem
- provide behaviour and wellbeing support
- manage and oversee the operations of the Student Wellbeing Team which includes: youth officer, mental health practitioner, DET nurse, Chaplaincy Service
- Implement and provide professional development as applicable to promote Student Wellbeing and Inclusion
- In consultation with school leadership, contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of student support processes, policies and structures across the school.
- Provide or source professional development for staff on issues related to student wellbeing such as mandatory reporting, suicide prevention, drug education.
