The Centre for Crop Health is one of nine research centres within the University, with a vision to be recognised for delivering world-class research into biotic and abiotic factors affecting crop health. The Centre for Crop Health specialises in multidisciplinary agricultural research bringing together specialists from crop biology, plant pathology, bioinformatics and genetics.

**What you’ll do**

Reporting to the Director (Centre for Crop Health) you will work alongside a collaborative group of crop protection researchers and scientists in state of the art research facilities. In particular, you will:

- provide support for mungbean pathology and genomic studies of mungbean bacterial diseases.
- have responsibility for the delivery of two mungbean pathology milestones as a part of UniSQ’s research commitments to Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) while also producing high quality publications.

**What will help you succeed**

Key to your success in this role will be your experience in or potential to learn bioinformatic analyses skills, including microbial genome assembly, annotation and population genomic analysis and an ability to engage in research while learning new techniques and collaborating with others.

Additionally, you will have:

- a Honours degree or a higher qualification in plant pathology. Progression towards completion of a Doctoral qualification will be highly regarded.
- proven experience, or demonstrated knowledge, in general plant pathology laboratory techniques, designing and conducting plant pathology glasshouse and field experiments, and working with plant pathogens, especially bacteria.
- demonstrated knowledge of and experience with general molecular biology techniques, such as DNA extractions, PCR/qPCR and genome sequencing.
- excellent writing skills and proven track record of publishing in high-quality discipline relevant journals.

In this role, you will have exposure to a variety of research projects as well as work closely with the mungbean industry to deliver impactful research to mungbean growers. You will also have the opportunity to take part in, and present research at, industry engagement days, grower updates and national and international conferences.

**Salary**: Total remuneration range $42,341 to $56,803 pa (includes salary range of $35,776 to $47,995 pa, employer super contributions of 17% and annual leave loading)
