Banyule City Council is hiring a Health Equity Officer to play a key role within the Community Impact team in supporting and advising staff and the community on a range of health equity issues and initiatives.

The Community Impact unit sits within the Resilient & Connected Communities Department. The role of the unit is to change community attitudes, drive inclusion and maximise and measure Council’s impact with the community and stakeholders.

**About the role:
- You will lead the development of the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan, curate public health and wellbeing data & research and provide specialised advice across the organisation on health and wellbeing outcomes.
- You will support Council’s response to addressing key priorities and strategies including the Victorian Public Health and Wellbeing Plan, Inclusive Banyule Plan, and the Community Vision 2041.

These issues include, but not limited to:

- Mental health and support services
- Gender equity
- Loneliness and isolation
- Gambling harm
- Health impacts of climate change
- Identity related health impacts

**Skills, experience and certificates**:

- Tertiary qualification in any of the following or similar: Bachelor of Science (Health Promotion), Bachelor of Public Health Promotion, Bachelor of Public Health and Health Promotion.
- Demonstrated competence in a leadership role within the health prevention and promotion sector.
- Experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic planning and program activity.
- Understanding of the health and/or social services sectors in local government and knowledge of the population health, promotion, prevention, and early intervention landscape.
- Leadership skills to engage, motivate and direct a wide range of stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
- A sound knowledge and understanding of health equity in relation to the local community.
- Proven experience working collaboratively within partnership structures across sectors.
- Experience in and a good understanding of local government.
