We are currently recruiting an experienced Principal - Asset Management to join and support operations team from our West Perth head office. This position will be responsible and accountable for developing and implementing long term asset management strategies for the Company’s mobile plant and other key assets. The Company is an owner-operator miner and we own and maintain a mining fleet consisting primarily of Caterpillar excavators, dump trucks, and various ancillary equipment.

**Reporting to the GM - Operations, the successful applicant will be required to**:

- Lead the mobile plant asset management function
- Provide leadership, coaching and support to 2 x direct reports: Reliability Engineer and Long-Term Maintenance Planner
- Collaborate and partner closely with key operational stakeholders, particularly Mobile Maintenance, to develop and implement asset management strategies, long-term maintenance plans, budgets, component replacement schedules, and capital expenditure approvals
- Provide expert technical support to key operational stakeholders
- In close collaboration with key operational stakeholders, identify and implement asset reliability and improvement initiatives
- Develop and maintain long-term asset replacement strategies and asset life cycle costings
- Lead fleet procurement activities in accordance with the fleet replacement strategy, prepare capital purchase business cases for board approval
- Lead all equipment hire activities including preparing business cases for approval, negotiating hire contracts, and ongoing contract administration
- Lead all equipment mobilisation & demobilisation activities including asset inspections, coordinating transport and site builds
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key OEM’s including Westrac, Komatsu, Hitachi
- Lead the warranty claims management process

**Requirements to be successful in this role are**:

- Significant knowledge of surface mining plant and equipment
- Substantial knowledge of asset management principles and strategies
- Significant knowledge of mobile plant maintenance operations, planning, forecasting, and scheduling
- Significant understanding of asset reliability and availability improvement methodologies
- Exposure to mining fleet procurement
- Must have excellent stakeholder communication skills
- Significant experience in a similar role within the mining industry will be well regarded
- Tertiary qualification in maintenance engineering or equivalent (Relevant trade background considered)
- High level of computer literacy with office suite, Pronto or similar maintenance management system experience
- Able to develop and maintain effective and professional relationships with key suppliers and contractors
- Regular site travel will be required for this role.
