**Who we are**
The Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) is part of the Commonwealth Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. As primary agency for Australia's Antarctic Program (AAP), the AAD is responsible for achieving the Australian Governments Antarctic goals to:

- Maintain the Antarctic Treaty System and enhance Australia's influence within it.
- Protect the Antarctic environment.
- Understand the role of Antarctica in the global climate system.
- Undertake scientific work of practical, economic and national significance.

The AAD also has responsibility for administering the Australian Antarctic Territory and the Territory of Heard Island and McDonald Islands.

The People and Culture Branch supports our people and our culture. It plays a key role in coordinating the division’s cultural change program in response to Leigh Russell’s 2023 independent review of our workplace culture. Through our cultural change program, we are changing the way we do things to make our workplaces safe and inclusive for everyone. The branch has a strong focus on supporting expeditioners (people who spend time working in Antarctica and the sub-Antarctic) including, expeditioner recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, medical and organisational psychological services and offboarding. The branch also provides critical divisional services across media and communication, risk and business continuity. We are looking to fill multiple roles in two sections within the AAD People and Culture Branch, Expeditioner Services (recruitment) and Expeditioner Capability and Training. The process will establish a merit pool that may be drawn upon for future vacancies.

**Expeditioner Services Section - Strategic Team Leader**
The focus of this section is on the full recruitment process and support of our expeditioners. The position vacancies lie in the recruitment stream, related to coordination of recruitment and assessment processes, travel and accommodation, onboarding and offboarding, performance management, internal and external stakeholder liaison, and the safe return of our expeditioners to Australia.

**Expeditioner Capability and Training Section - Expeditioner and Training Liaison**

**The Job**
These roles will bare responsible for leading small, high-performing teams that plan, deliver and review expeditioner services and training, reporting to the Manager of the area.
- Lead a small team and be part of a work area.
- Collaborate, communicate, leverage and influence relationships to deliver agreed business outcomes.
- Exemplify a high level of resilience and personal integrity, be a team player, and lead through consultation and engagement with stakeholders.
- Oversee financial and procurement processes including tender documentation; manage contracts and budgets.

**Eligibility and other requirements**

**Citizenship** - To be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water you must be an Australian citizen.

**Pre-employment Check** - Your suitability for employment will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This process includes a requirement to undergo and satisfy a National Police Check, referee checks, character clearance and where required a pre-employment medical assessment, specified mandatory qualification(s) validation and a probation period of 6 months.
