The Royal Women’s Hospital (the Women’s) has provided health services to women and newborn babies in Victoria since 1856 and is now Australia’s largest specialist women’s hospital. The Women’s is recognised as a leader in its field, with expertise in maternity services and the care of newborn babies, gynaecology, assisted reproduction, women’s health and cancer services.

The Gynaecology service provides specialist treatment and care to women requiring gynaecological intervention. The department provides inpatient care to approximately 6,800 women per year, and provides further treatment through a busy outpatients department.

The Gynaecology service at the RWH is looking for a skilled and motivated person/s to fill vacancies within the service that have come about through various leave for 2023/2024. Young consultants with competencies in surgical training and research desiring increased gynaecological clinical work experience are preferred.

The roles would involve clinical service in the areas of Acute Gynaecology and general gynaecology which would include Gynaecology clinic attendance, surgical operating and participation in the acute gynaecology on
- call roster during daytime and some after-hours service.

It would be expected that suitable applicants participate in Gynaecology unit meetings and audits as well as attending and participating in structured meetings such as Morbidity/Mortality meeting and pre-admission meetings. RWH is a tertiary teaching hospital and the role comprises structured and non
- structured teaching, training and supervision of medical students and junior doctors.

It will serve as an opportunity to seek out new talent, cross-hospital or cross-district collaboration, and as a means for interaction between hospital networks.

**About you**
To be successful within this role you will need to have:

- Must hold or be eligible for registration with the Medical Practitioners Board of Australia
- Attained Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists
- Comprehensive skills and experience in provision of Gynaecological care
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability in management and navigation of stakeholder involvement in public sector institutions
- Knowledge of women’s health issues in relation to the target population of RWH

**Influenza Vaccination**

In line with the Health Services Amendment (Mandatory Vaccination of Healthcare Workers) Act 2020, some health care workers are now required to have their flu vaccination to work in health care. Evidence of vaccination is required.
As this role fits into category A or B of the departments risk ratings, applicants will be required to have been vaccinated against influenza. Evidence of vaccination is required.
