ATSILS is a not-for-profit, community-based
organisation that delivers innovative, professional criminal, civil and family
law services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients throughout
Queensland.
We are 50 years old, and have 300 staff including a
specialist Through Care service to complement our legal services. We are fully
government funded, and this Admin role is tied to ongoing funding, currently
set to 30 June 2025.
Opportunity
This position provides WHS and Wellbeing expertise
to the Human Resources Manager, providing support in the development and
implementation of a Safety Management System, safety culture and general WHS
activities across ATSILS, ensuring compliance and best practices initiatives
and work practices for the purpose of achieving strategic business
objectives.

Selection Criteria

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA (6)
**1. Values**: alignment
to the values and vision of ATSILS and an appreciation of and sensitivity to
the challenges our clients have faced, and continue to face, in their fight for
and their right to justice and equity.
**2. Qualifications**: Certificate
**III in Business/Customer Service**: a tertiary qualification in
Workplace Health and Safety (minimum Certificate IV) or related
discipline. A minimum of two years’ workplace experience within the legal
profession or with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforces or clients
in this field. Sound experience in Rehabilitation and Return to
Work Coordination.
3. Specialist expertise,
**ideally**: ability to efficiently train staff on recognising and
reducing risk management and experience in project managing organisational
change initiatives.
**4. Workplace reporting**: sound
interpersonal and communication skills such as an ability in empathetically
convey information to individuals and teams, while ensuring compliance
requirements
5. Knowledge of legislation
**and appreciation of employer policy**: l egislation: Work Health and Safety
Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act.
6. Mobility, access, teamwork,
**and safety**: preparedness to work after hours if necessary;
willingness to travel and present and gather educational materials, to this
end, a Driver Licence is required, and an ability to fly to regional offices is
required;
a willingness to undergo a Criminal Record
Check to achieve a National Police Certificate (Australia-wide Disclosable
Criminal History).

DESIRABLE CRITERIA (3)
1. Expertise in project
management, digital presentations, and report writing.
2. A contemporary knowledge of
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander lived experience would be beneficial (or
the capacity to quickly acquire such).
3. Experience in working with
Managers and staff alike to address WHS and wellbeing requirements.
