**A bit about the role**:
The AOD Clinician position forms part of the multidisciplinary team at the Living Room Primary Health service. As part of the Substance Misuse Team, our AOD clinicians work with people experiencing multiple and complex needs to provide strengths-based and therapeutic interventions designed to reduce the frequency and severity of mental health crisis and the harms of high-risk AOD use amongst Melbourne’s rough sleeping population accessing The Living Room Primary Health Services.

Working within a social model of health, the position will provide crisis interventions, undertakes structure and semi-structured counselling sessions and conduct supported referrals across a range of domains. As a senior clinician, this position provides supervision for clinicians within the Substance Misuse Team and secondary consultations to staff at The Living Room and other teams working with clients presenting with a range of complex mental health and harmful AOD use.

**NOTE: The Living Room Primary Health Service **provides** responses to adults age 18+**

**Key requirements for this role**
- Demonstrated experience (2+ years) AOD sector and treatment provision working with clients with multiple and complex needs.
- Demonstrated experience working in a community-based setting.
- Knowledge and understanding of homelessness, housing, and health sectors (including mental health and AOD)
- Degree qualified in a health or human service setting, preferably in the AOD or Mental Health Sector

**A bit about you**:
You’re passionate about working with at-risk and vulnerable people with AOD concerns and you are familiar with providing crisis interventions, undertaking structured and semi-structured counselling sessions, and conducting supported referrals across a range of domains.

You know the importance of providing effective interventions, client advocacy and implementing the principles of harm minimisation. You know not every day will be the same; you can switch from providing support to advocating for service access, to writing up case notes in the blink of an eye.

You've got at least 2 years of experience working in AOD, and you are degree qualified in Social Work, AOD or Mental Health. Changing lives is your passion, but you still embrace rolling up your sleeves and mucking in to get the job done.

The Living Room is a primary health service, the team works with people aged 18+ to provide free healthcare and support to improve the physical, mental and social well-being of individuals who are, or at risk of experiencing homelessness.

The only service of its kind in Melbourne, focuses on the social determinants of health to look beyond disease or illness, to see a person's overall situation. Our multi-disciplinary team works with individuals to identify goals and focus on harm minimisation, self-determination, and empowerment.

We are a non-judgemental service with a strong focus on respect, client centred care and harm prevention. We work with clients on a personalised, tailored basis to address highly complex issues faced by people experiencing multiple and complex needs.

Youth Projects is an independent, registered charity providing front line support to young people and individuals experiencing disadvantage, unemployment, homelessness, alcohol and other drug issues.
