- Support the development of anaesthetic services
- Support and facilitate a culture of learning and best practice
- Support and develop anaesthesia research within the department
- Commit to join our team for a minimum of 470 hours per annum
- Be confident working on a variety of cases including paediatric patients

**Applicants expecting to be awarded Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) within six months may be considered.**

The Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) has responsibility for health services in the Illawarra Shoalhaven region - a catchment area extending along the coastline from Helensburgh in the North, to North Durras in the South with over 400,000 residents. This catchment covers four Local Government Areas (LGAs): Wollongong, Kiama, Shellharbour and Shoalhaven. ISLHD operates eight hospital sites in Coledale, Bulli, Wollongong, Port Kembla, Shellharbour, Berry, Shoalhaven and Milton Ulladulla, and community health services operating from approximately 58 locations across the region. ISLHD is one of the region’s largest employers with a workforce of more than 8,500 staff.

Wollongong Hospital is the largest of Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District’s eight hospitals, treating more than 48,000 patients annually. It is the region’s tertiary referral hospital servicing a population of more than 400,000 people. The Wollongong Hospital is a 500+ bed centre which provides both general and specialty medical and surgical services including adult intensive care and coronary care units.

An academic suite at Wollongong Hospital supports both the Graduate School of Medicine and School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Wollongong. As such there are teaching and research opportunities through the UOW Graduate School of Medicine.

- developed research support unit that offers staff an extensive range of research support services including: assistance in the development of the research study design, biostatistics support, data analysis, and help writing final research publications, as well assistance with the ethics and governance processes.

Applications from **Staff Specialists** are welcome. Salary for permanent 1 FTE **_$262,376 - $354,479_** **plus superannuation guarantee levy and any other applicable allowances as per the Staff Specialist State Award.
- This position is also eligible for up to $10,000 in incentives under the Rural Health Workforce Incentives Scheme for Staff Specialists. _

Staff Specialist’s also have access to:
