**The Opportunity**

Melton City Council is committed to best practice integrity and governance functions and an opportunity exists to lead a small team of integrity and legal practitioner to establish an integrity framework based on sector leading approach.

Reporting to the Head of Governance, the role will as a trusted adviser across the organisation, making key recommendations to Management, Executive Leadership Team and Audit and Risk Committee.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide strategic property advice on complex and/or sensitive leasing, licensing, acquisition, and disposal matters.
- Process and prepare documentation relating to acquisitions and transfers of land/property in accordance with legislative and policy requirements.
- Develop effective property policies and procedures that guide Council in making decisions around the use and management of Council’s landholdings.
- Prepare reports to Council, the Executive Leadership Team and other relevant stakeholders relating to property matters.

**About you**

**_ To be successful in this role you will have the following:_**
- Tertiary qualifications in relevant field of study or equivalent such as law, property, finance or valuations further formal qualifications in the field of expertise or in management alternatively lesser formal qualifications together with extensive and diverse experience, or intensive specialist experience.
- A minimum of five years industry experience, preferably in local government.
- Experience in the management of leases, licenses land acquisitions and property disposals.
- A strong understanding of legislative requirements for property management in a local government context.
