**Council Overview**

Strathfield Council (Council) is a medium sized Council located in Sydney’s Inner West. The area of the Council comprises approximately 14 square kilometres and has an estimated population of 46,000 residents, which is growing at 2.5-3% annually. Based on NSW Government projections, the population will increase to over 80,000 by 2036.

**About the Opportunity**
- This role provides the opportunity to achieve the best tree management outcomes to improve the quality of the Municipality’s trees that maximises the environmental, social, and economic value provided by the urban forest to the community. This role also assists with the management of Strathfield’s Urban Forest within the Local government area.
- To achieve this, the position involves the following duties:

- Liaise with internal stakeholders and the public to provide quality arboriculture and urban forestry recommendations.
- Work closely with Councils Planning/Development Section and assist Development Assessment functions related to trees.
- Investigate illegal tree issues and provide comments with Councils Compliance Section.
- Issue penalties and fines, preparation of Statements of Evidence, Affidavits and appearance in the Land and Environment Court and Local Court if required.
- Contribute positively to overall service delivery by working as a team member, communicating effectively with customers and with other Council departments.
- Collaborate with other sections of Council to develop policy and procedures that impact on the Urban Forest (e.g. Tree Management Policies/Street Tree Master Plans).

**About You**
- Relevant Tertiary qualifications in Arboriculture at Diploma level (AQF Level 5)
- Current NSW ‘Class C’ Drivers Licence
- Demonstrated computer literacy in a wide range of computer software packages including: Microsoft Office, Electronic Records Management etc.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to quality customer service.
- Qualifications in an industry recognised tree risk methodology (e.g. QTRA, TRAQ) **(DESIRABLE)**
