**About the Opportunity**

Reporting to the Head of Operations and Supply Chain Capability, the Technical Training Manager is responsible for the planning, development, co-ordination, and execution of all aspects of Technical Training at ASC from concept to implementation including the oversight and training of permanent ASC workers including contractors, ASC Apprentices, embedded trainees and work experience students.

The role leads a team of training specialists in both SA and WA and mentors in the development of course material and infrastructure planning in relation to training classrooms and workshop facilities. The role will include the setting of expectations and provision of input to the performance management of the apprentices throughout their training contracts.

The Technical Training Manager will work closely with the Trade Managers across two states to identify, target and prioritise training needs of staff including development of critical systems training packages utilising the appropriate tools, methods, and timing.

This is a full-time opportunity based at either our Osborne site in SA or Henderson site in WA.

**Responsibilities**
- Manage and lead major projects and respond to the increase of technical skill demands and looks to develop a sustainable and improved Apprenticeship, Early Careers Program and Technical Bridging program.
- Lead, motivate and develop a team of training professionals through excellent coaching and mentoring
- Supervise training programs to be delivered to apprentices and the trade workforce as required
- Develop concepts and a vision of how Trade Training will be carried out in future and develop plans to execute these concepts including course materials and infrastructure
- Plan and develop the vision and the steps required to be taken to support the growth in apprenticeship intake for SA & WA where the new concepts can be implemented to give all employees the required training on and off the boat to meet the required skill and competency levels needed to sustain the workforce to support the CCSM program
- Oversight and coordination of on-job training of an apprentice or trainee. On-job training must be by a skilled or qualified person in the competencies laid out in the agreed Training Plan. The work should be work relevant and appropriate to the trade or declared vocation
- Build & maintain strong relationships with TAFE & Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) across the states to ensure the training meets ASCs requirements
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to meet their training needs analysis with support from the Learning & Development Team

**About you**
- Tertiary qualifications in Business or equivalent experience
- At least 10 years’ experience in an operational leadership role (preferably within the last 5 years in the Defence Industry)
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the Vocational Education and Training Sector
- Senior Operational Experience (Heavy Industry and/or Defence)
- Proven strategic thinking & collaborative business planning across cross functional teams
- Demonstrated experience working across various functional departments to foster relationships and be able to influence and negotiate at all levels
- Proven ability to mentor and manage people, WHSE, quality systems and frameworks

**Eligibility**

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to a baseline level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
